Novel idea

Sir: I have been amused and perplexed by the recent correspondence concerning the mutilation of papers and magazines in libraries. Here in Australia we have a system whereby one goes into a local shop, usually referred to as the newsagent, and for a few coins purchases one's own (unsnipped) copy of the daily paper or weekly journal. Perhaps this idea might catch on in England?
