Scots' oats

A strong Scottish contingent in kilts made things even more colourful. Sporrans and frogs' legs are in the same league of chauvinistic jokes. Certainly the Scots seemed entertaining to the French, persisting with their fiendish reels into the early hours when the music was distinctly gropey. "C'est pas normal ca?" anxious observers asked me.

The next stage is a return match in Aberdeenshire at the end of the month after the honeymoon. "I will see you in Scotland" a member of the French family said to me as he left for Paris. "I expect it will be perhaps extremely funny yes?" I hope they are not disappointed. We have a lot to learn about weddings from the French.
