According to a letter from Constantinople of the 20th May,

quoted by the Univers, the health of the young Sultan was giving way daily. "Our correspondent," adds that journal, "who saw the Padisha, in- forms us that be is reduced to• a state of emaciation and weakness, which leaves little hopes of his recovery."

Another letter in the Commerce states, that there is talk of a battle between the Turks and Candiotes, in which the latter have had the advantage.
