CAPITAL PUNISHMENT IN THE EMPIRE

SIR,—In reply to the " Spectabilia " paragraph and Mr. Justice MacGregor's comment in your issue of May 20th, your readers will be interested to know that although New Zealand retains the Death Penalty it was abolished in Queensland in 1922 under the Criminal Code Amendment Act of that year.
