THE BATTLE OF JUTLAND [To the Editor of TnE SPECTATOR.]

Sin,—I have read with interest the paragraph in A Spec- tator's Notebook " in your issue of June 5th, concerning the Battle of Jutland. Why does no one ever point out the fart that if Admiral Sir John Jellicoe had telegraphed to the Admiralty after the battle, - We have driven the enemy off time sea," it would have been perfectly true—the sort of signal that Nelson might have made—and it would have been proved true by the undoubted fact that the next time the German Rich Seas Fleet—as a fleet—put to sea, more than two years later. it was to surrender to Admiral Sir David Beatty in the Firt h of Forth ?—I am, Sir, yours faithfully, A STUDENT OF NAVAL HISTORY.
