Mr. Besant's new novel of "The Ivory Gate," which is

now running in Chambers's Journal, promises to be one of his best. There is a picture in the March number of a corner of literary- legal Bohemia, which reminds one somehow of "Ready-Money Mortiboy." The miscellaneous papers in this number are above, rather than below, the average. Mr. Richard Dowling's short story of "Urgent Private Affairs" is also a good one.
