As for the military movement the expectation that the Cantonese

would move directly on Shanghai has not been fulfilled. They are aiming, as the Shanghai correspondent of the Times tells us, at the Shanghai-Nanking Railway by routes east and west of Taihu Lake. But they have not advanced in force and their attempts to stir up strikes on the way have not met with the usual success. The main Cantonese advance is expected from Wuhu along the Yangtze. At Shanghai Japanese . troops have been landed. An attempt is being made by Red agents to screw Labour up to the point of a general strike when called upon. Assassination is their method of indicating the desirability of obedience.
