The elections took place in France last Sunday. A second

ballot will be necessary in 155 constituencies, but it is believed that it will result only in an increase of the Bloc majority. According to one estimate, the new Chamber will consist of 44 Socialists, 166 Socialist-Radicals, and 200 Republicans, while on the side of the Opposition will be 56 Right-Centre Republicans, and 122 Nationalists and Re- actionaries. This will give the Government a majority of 232.
