Anstruther's Wife. By Josephine Michell. (Roper and Drowley.) —The plot

of Anstruther's Wife is a well-worn one, and is be- coming too familiar. Hence, as no exceptional power is shown in treating it, we cannot describe the story as a success. Anstrather himself, the stern middle-aged soldier, who falls in love with a young girl, and afterwards nearly kills her with jealousy, is a true enough character, and so is his wife, but they do not interest us very much.
