Happy Bermudans

From Mr Robert Stewart Sir: I enjoyed the article by Simon Heifer on English emigration arising largely from the policies of the Blair government (`The next great exodus', 30 March). It was, of course, this same government that, in 1999, issued a White Paper complaining about harmful tax competition from places like Bermuda. Clearly, they seek to impose on Bermudans all the sad baggage that they, and their predecessors, have inflicted on England.

Please tell the British government that we are happy with our tax-efficient situation, and we do not appreciate interference along the lines that they have imposed on the British public.
