Nineteen hundred dockers at Southampton went on strike last week-end because there was work to be done on Saturday afternoon. Saturday afternoons are for football. So passengers coming and going had to hump their own luggage. Did any of them recall the pertinent question of the union official who asked, at the time of the ,Savoy Hotel strike some years ago, why the Duchess upstairs should not, like his own grannies cook her own kipper ?
