The result of the by-election in the Wick Burghs, due

to the appointment of Mr. Munro as Lord Advocate, was announced on Tuesday evening as follows: Mr. R. Munro (L.). 1,577; Mr. A. G. MacKenzie, (U.) 1,134. Liberal majority, 443. In 1910 the Liberal majorities were 275 and 211, and the increase has been hailed with exultation by Liberals as a triumphant condemnation of Carsonism. Unionists cannot regard the result with satisfaction, but, as it is pointed out by the Times correspondent, there is nothing of the index constituency about Wick, seeing that in the Unionist triumph of 1895 it returned a Liberal, and in the Unionist &beide of 1906 it returned a Unionist.
