Good catch

Sir: You've made a good catch in getting Lauren Booth to do a Diary piece (6 December). I really enjoyed her comments on the contemporary scene, with a wry edge sometimes rather engagingly aimed at her- self. So let's have some more from her, please.

May I presume to offer her a little advice regarding wine-drinking? By all means enjoy a fine wine, but do remain basically content with what is to be had in Berni Inns and north London pubs.

I, for example, am fortunate enough to have absolutely no taste or discrimination in this field — I enjoy all wines, good and bad, with the possible exception of the undiluted acid of red Bergerac. Perhaps I miss some of the finer points of life, but it certainly saves me a lot of money!
