Greig, the literary editor of the Sunday Times, for being anti-American. As a sixth- generation Texan, who met him during his four-and-a-half-year stint as the paper's New York correspondent, I can put Mr Johnson's mind at rest: he is not anti- American. Mr Johnson also writes that my husband is a 'crony' of the journalist Christopher Hitchens, when, in fact, they have never met. Mr Johnson appears to deplore the journalistic profession for its inaccuracy and nastiness. It might appear to some that, within his own definition, he chose the right profession.
