The Golden Gate and Silver Steps. By Shirley Hibberd. (E.

Allen.)—" A prosey-versey medley for young people of all ages" is the description which Mr. Hibberd gives of his book, and we do not know that we can better it. We may say, however, that wherever the reader opens its he will be pretty sure to find something that will entertain him. Sometimes this something will be serious, as when the author tells about " The True Story of Robinson Crusoe," and discourses about "The Wise Men ;" but it will commonly be a joke of one kind or another, and probably a good joke.
