A train ferry is being established between Harwich and Zeebrugge.

It will be possible to send goods without breaking bulk from an English factory to any part of Europe, except Russia and the Iberian Peninsula where the gauges are not of the European size. It is hoped to have the ferry running by August. The company has purchased three of the ferry steamers which used to ply between Richborough and the Continent. The work will employ from five to six hundred men, and will cost about £60,000. 150,000 tons per annum both ways is the anticipated traffic in the early stages.
