Confident Winston II

Winston II has been busy defending his grandfather from Nicholas Tomalin who, Winston II writes, had proceeded "to adduce" that Winston I was "vengeful and wild " in his behaviour as First Lord of the Admiralty in connection with the sinking of the Lusitania.

Confident Winston II asserts that "the BBC and Mr Tomalin must realise that, were Churchill to be alive today, their programme would be the subject of a libel action in the High Court." This I doubt. If Churchill were alive today, he would be ninety-eight and past caring. Anyway, I think his reputation is secure enough not to need the protection of his grandson, who protests too much. His father would not have made such a mistake. Winston II also uses the word ' adduce ' when he means 'induce' or infer.' His grandfather would not have made that mistake.
