The failure of the peace attempt in Ireland, to which

we have already referred, was formally admitted at the meeting of the Dail Eireann on Wednesday afternoon. If the rival factions of the I.R.A. really want peace, as they seem to do, surely there is an opportunity at last for the Provisional Government to take definite action. So long as Mr. De Valera remains at large there is no more chance of peace in Ireland than there was of peace in India while Gandhi was left free to preach his wild and mischievous nonsense.
