R.A.F. VERNACULAR

Sta,—In Mr. Woosnam-Jones' article in your issue of October 3oth I was very interested to learn that the most recent addition to R.A.F. vernacular is the verb to " prang." It willprobably come as a great surprise to many of our airmen to learn that they have unwittingly hit upon a very apt word, as " prang " is the Malay word for "war "! Therefore, a heavy delivery of 4,000 pounders on Germany is literally "carrying the war into the enemy's camp." All the more power to their " pranging "—" Slamat dialan " (good fortune) to all of them!—Yours faithfully,
