SIR,—I ask with diffidence for authority for a phrase now so commonly in men's mouths,—" The Church of England as by law established." Can any one lay his hand on a statute which has established "The Church of England ;" or is the phrase a part of, and only a part of, a perfectly correct phrase, "The Liturgy of the Church of England, as by law established"? Certainly we can lay our hand on the statute of Charles IT which established our Liturgy, in the popular sense of that word. But when, and by whom, was the Church of England Established ? –I am, Sir, &c.,
