Bar talk

Sir: Mr Parviz Radji claims in his letter (1 September) that my 'alleged outrage' at something he said 'is a piece of self-serving fiction'. He also writes he has never met me. Although a blow to my ego, I am nevertheless not surprised. I may have got my dates wrong, but the conversation did take place in the bar at the Carlyle Hotel, and was witnessed by Marion Javitts, wife of the then New York senator. He should check it up with her and, while at it, look her up. She is now a very rich widow. Taki Theodoracopulos
