This week's game won the brilliancy prize in the international junior tournament at Groningen-at the beginning- oft this- year. It is not in fact a very brilliant game—competition for the prize must have been poor—tiut. it is an amusing if scrappy encounter. Neither winner nor loser reached the final pool which was won by Steinberg of the USSR with Whiteley (England) second. It is curious, incidentally, that we do so much better in junior than in senior events—our young players don't seem to develop as much as one would hope.
