We see with pleasure that the late George Long, formerly

Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, the eminent scholar and jurist, who was a man of the most thorough learning, of the most modest scholarship, and of the most severe simplicity, is to have a memorial such as he would himself have approved. A strong Committee has been formed, of which Mr. H. I. Matthews, M.A., is the honorary secretary, to collect sufficient subscriptions for a " George Long Scholarship " or " George Long Prize " for the encouragement of the study of Roman Law. Subscriptions should be paid to the " George Long Memorial Fund," Messrs. Hall, Bevan, West, and Hall, Union Bank, North Street, Brighton.
