Our daily bread

Give Lis this day our daily bread. The staff of life on which we're fed; The staple of the worker's grub; The sandwich cover in the pub.

In weather that is far from fine, Why should we stand in a breadline To wrest a sliced, wrapped, standard "plother"

Out of the hands of A,N.Other?

The baking staff cry; "It's a sin To bake on Sundays; but the tin We'll lose on overtime must be Added to our wage, tax-free.

"As Marie Antoinette has said, In talking of the lower-bred,

To save our souls, we will not bake So let them all just eat more cake!"
