We were mistaken in supposing last -week that Sir Fowell

Buxton's candidature for Westminster was supported by the- Licensed Victuallers. It seems that they supported almost unanimously the Conservative candidates. Sir Fowell Buxton, though a partner in a great brewery, was too sincere an ad- vocate of the public interest to be regarded as the advocate of the publicans' interest. So much the better for him, and so- much the worse for the constituency which rejected him.
