TICKETS FOR FIRE WATCHERS

SIR,—The railway companies are refusing to issue workmen's tickets to night fire-watchers proceeding to their duties in the evening. I have taken up the matter with the Ministry of Transport, who refuse to intervene. It seems to me that the attitude of the railway com- panies is contrary to public policy, and particularly unwise at a time when they are operating under Government guarantee.—I am, Sir,
