The annual statistics of entrance scholarships and exhibitions at Cambridge

are always interesting. This year, as usual, Eton and Manchester Grammar School are neck and neck near the head of the list—Eton being this time no higher than third with six scholar- ships and eight exhibitions against Manchester's eight and eight. Between the two comes Marlborough with eight and six—as gotd a performance as any having regard to the numbers in the schools (Manchester 1,380, Eton ',too, Marlborough 720). Meanwhile I note, without comment, that Cambridge heads the national poll, with Oxford a good second, in convictions for drunkenness.
