Sir: The remarks made recently by the Prime Minister and

others on the subject of Biafra cannot be allowed the pass unchallenged. In particular, I would like to draw attention to the two errors made by the Prime Minister in the recent Commons statement. Mr Wilson said that the Nigerians would not talk except on the basis of surrender, and that the Biafrans would only talk on the basis of independence. While correct with regard to the Nigerian attitude, this ignored the fact that Colonel Ojukwu has sig- nified his readiness to meet the Nigerian leaders any time, and that the Bialran government is prepared to accept withdrawal to prewar lines as a condition for talks..
