The Senate of the University of Glasgow, on Friday the

6th instant, unanimously conferred the degree of LL.D. on Mr. John Pringle Nicol, Professor of Practical Astronomy in the said University.— Glasyus Argus.

We hear that the report of the Commissioners for inquiry into the state of church accommodation in Scotland is drawn up, if not sent off to London. Of its contents we are not informed ; but as the Com- missioners are said to be unanimous, we infer that they have not re- commended any grant out of the general revenue of the country. We think it very unlikely that the whole Commissioners would have agreed to such a proposition. The grant, therefore, if there be one, will pro- bably be from funds to which the Kirk has some real or pretended claim —but the secret will soon be known.—Scatsmare.

Typhus fever is committing great ravages in Glasgow, and influenza is prevalent throughout the North of Scotland.
