Major Lumley has got off cheaply. On Monday Serjeant Parry

apologized on his behalf for his conduct in challenging Mr. Desborough, jun., and for the libellous language he had uttered, and the Court only bound him over in heavy penalties to keep the peace for a year towards all the world, and especially Mr. Desborough. Major Lumley will never again probably propose to himself to sabre or pistol a solicitor into complaisance. The excessive absurdity of his euterprise has alone saved him from severer punishment.
