Postal Improvement

Mr. Ness Edwards may be making trouble for himself with the Post Office unions, but he has earned the thanks of everyone in large cities by his decision to restore a late collection of letters, and of everyone everywhere for his extension of the cheap telephone- call period from 6 to 10.30 instead of 6.30 to 9.30. Against this has to be set a slight increase in parcel-post and foreign-letter rates. (At present a letter from England to France costs 3d., a letter from France to England approximately 8d.) On balance, the public is very much the gainer. Mr. Ness Edwards, his predecessor having declared such charges impracticable, has proved them practicable by effecting them.
