A CENTRE PARTY.

Sin,—The suggestion for the formation of a Central Party that appeared in your issue of the 7th inst. appears to me to give the only hope of resisting, on the one hand, the separation of Ireland from the Union, and, on the other, of combating the return to the discredited policy of Protection, —I know not which would work the greater evil to our country. In forming such a party to maintain the Union, and at the same time to defend our commerce from artificial restrictions, funds will be wanted, and I shall be happy to contribute to the same to the best of my ability.—I am, Sir,
