Venice in fibreglass

Sir: A most interesting paragraph in Christopher Booker's Notebook (23'April) about fibreglass replicas. Perhaps someone could propose to the Italian government that the money which was donated to the `Venice in Peril' fund which has vanished into some mysterious escrow, could be used to build a replica of the city of Venice; the real city could then be dismantled and its pieces rented out to other countries as tourist attractions. The income from Disneyland along might help solve the problem of Italian inflation. If the project is a success, London, Paris and New York might be next.
