IRISH STORIES.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR."] SIR,—In reply to your correspondent " N.," I beg to say that I was told the story about the railway-porter and the lady by a gentlewoman connected with the County Clare. She is a, personal friend; and I certainly understood from her that the incident described had occurred in Ireland, though I did not. think of asking her to name the exact locality, not deeming it necessary to do so. We are too much accustomed to such good things in Ireland, to feel it necessary always to verify them.—I am, Sir, &c., THE WRITER OF THE ARTICLE ON " SENSA- TIONAL REFORXATION."
