It is interesting to observe that, according to Hansard, Lord

Samuel, in speaking on the Address, quoted General Eisen- hower as saying in a public speech : "One hundred and seventy-five years ago the Foundling Fathers of the American Republic declared their indepen- dence of the British Crown."

These particular foundlings seem to have been a little vener- able, bin no doubt they were none the worse for that. Probably found straying somewhere along the Massachusetts coast.
