SATURDAY NIGHT.

The accounts from Spain advert to a subject which has hitherto re- ceived but little attention—the deplorable condition of the great bulk of the people, owing to the ravages committed by the troops of the contending factions. The elections have been going on ; bet not a third of the vet, is have attended the poll. Communication between the provinces aid the Government at Madrid is in some instances entirely cut off, in all very uncertuin. New bands of marauders rise up in every direction ; and the smoking ruins of burnt villages blacken some of the fairest districts in Spain. Memorials for protection and relief are sent to the Government from the Municipal Assem- blies; but there is no power to help them at Mudrid.
