SIR,—We sincerely apologise to Dr Wilson (Letters, October 7) for

our error over his medical qualifica- tions, and we deeply regret any distress or incon- venience this may have caused him. Dr Wilson is entered in the Medical Directory with different Christian names from those he uses for his writing and this caused our unfortunate mistake.

This, however, does not alter the rest of our criticism of Dr Wilson's statements. These are, per- haps, even more to be deplored in an eminent doctor than in a lay person.
