Australian irrigation Colonies. Compiled by J'. E. Matthew Vincent. (Chaffey

Brothers.)—This is an account of an enterprise

which, to use a quotation which we find on the title-page, has been welcomed in every part of Victoria, as likely to enrich us with a new territory. The " Irrigation Colonies " are Mitchurs, (Victoria) and Renmark (South Australia),. and it is proposed to utilise for them the waters of the Murray. Droughts are the greatest draw- back to Australian prosperity, and an attempt to grapple with them ought to have good results.
