White rebels

A sad situation has now arisen in Mozambique where the weirdly named Dragons of Death are attempting to defy reality as well as the new agreement between Portugal and Frelimo regarding the inde pendence of the colony. General Spinola has instructed the Portuguese Army to restore order, and it is to be hoped that they will be powerful enough and cohesive enough to do so. Although it never seemed likely that the new Portuguese government would be able to create the Lusitanian federation which was the Spinolan dream, nonetheless Portugal's withdrawal from her African possessions has proceeded with far more efficiency than might have been expected, and with more hope for stability in the future than comparable withdrawals, such as that of Belgium. The best to hope for now is that white resistance will be brought to an end, so that the peaceful political and economic development of the former colonies may go ahead.
