Another monomaniac has found the way to Buckingham Palace, from

a distance. A woman was discovered on Thursday morning, crouched up under a tree, in a wood at Walton-upon-Thames, unable to speak a word of English. Taken before the local Magistrates, she proved to be a native of France. She says that she is the wife of a mechanic ; and she gives two reasons for coming to England—to see two brothers whom she imagines to hold responsible situations in Buckingham Palace; and to claim the throne of England, which is hers by right. She also calls herself Queen Isabella the Second of Spain. Yesterday evening she was brought to Buckingham Palace, to see if her story had any shadow of foundation ; which, of course, it had not.

The woman was placed before Mr. T wy ford at Bow Street Police- office today. She had nothing on her head but a thin dirty cap, and round her she closely held a dark brown shawl. She could speak no English; but Police Inspector Partridge interpreted. In reply to the Magis- trate's questions she gave the most incoherent answers: e. g. "Where do you come from?" "I am the glory of my country." "What did you come to England for ? " " Because I was in great misery, Sir." "What do you expect by coming here ?" "I am Christ." Mr. Twyford objected to her having been brought up to London ; for which there was no reason whatever; "In fact," said Mr. Twyford, "the duty of properly passing this poor creature, or of taking cire of her, falls upon the parish where she was originally found." He therefore ordered her to be taken back to Walton by the constable who brought her to London.
