UNITED GLASS BOTTLES As with soft drinks, so with bottles

: Sir Max Bonn told the shareholders of United Glass Bottle Manufacturers that they started 1938 with a record volume of orders on hand, though he agreed that this might in part be due to the anticipation of future orders resulting from active trade conditions during the greater part of 1937. The company's present accounts are the first since United Glass Bottles acquired from the Distillers group the capital of British Bottles on an exchange basis. Sir Max was able to announce that the basis of the deal worked out by the accountants was amply justified by the results. He disclosed that British Bottles have retained a substantial proportion of their profit and are building up a reserve to meet any possible heavy capital expenditure. * * * *
