At a special meeting, yesterday, of the " Society for

the Protection of Agriculture and British Industry," which was attended by a deputation from the " National Association for the Protection of British Industry and Capital," it was unanimously resolved that the two societies be united; and a committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements. The meeting was very fully attended.

The Smithfield Club held their annual dinner yesterday, at Freemasons, Hall; the Duke of Richmond presiding. The attendance was not so nu- merous as on former occasions.

The Midland Counties Cattle Show dinner took place-yesterday, at Bir- mingham.
