[TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SPECTATOR.1 SIR,—May I explain the

meaning of the word " collop " as used by Irish peasants? It has been referred to in the last two Spectators, but without the true explanation being given. The word is applied to cattle and means a full-grown animal. Two yearlings count as one " collop."—I am, Sir, &c., M.
