me from General Clifton Brown, the Conservative candidate for South Berkshire, in answer

to my inquiry whether he was in favour of the system of a Referendum, is as follows :-

DEAR SIRS I find myself very much in sympathy with your suggestion, and if elected I will do my best to raise the question of a Referendum Bill devised to save the necessity of a General Election in a situation as at present or in a Capital Levy crisis.— Conservative Club, Newbury.
