N ext week, the Spectator publishes its Christmas double issue, the

last issue before the New Year. In order to make sure that readers can secure copies before starting their Christmas holiday, we are going to press two days early. The 72 pages of pure pleasure, including, for example, John Osborne, me tormer Angry Young Man, on how he restored the Prayer Book to his parish church, Frank Johnson on the Nutcracker Ballet and George Gale on having a heart attack, will therefore be available on Tuesday in London and Wednesday in the rest of the country.

Those who enjoy Digby Anderson's Im- perative Cooking may be interested to know that a collection of his equally imperative writing on political and social subjects is now on sale. Extra Dry, which contains his articles from the Times, is available from the Social Affairs Unit, 2 Lord North St, London SW1, for £2.95.
