Lowe (Spectator, February 8th) does well to quote Queen Elizabeth, but it seems strange that a speech as stirring as Nelson's signal at Trafalgar, and delivered at a *dais even graver to the nation, should be misquoted, even from memory, in your columns. What Queen Elizabeth really mid was this :—" I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart of a King, and of a King of England too, and I hold it foul scorn that Parma, or Spain, or any Prince of Europe should dare to set foot within the &orders of my realm." What wonder is it that Elizabethan English is still the test of style, or that Elizabethan poets, statesmen, and soldiers loved their Queen P—I am, Sir, &c.,
