Supporting Mr Heath

Sir: Why do you continue your condemnation of the present leader of the Conservative Party? Your support and publications of articles by second class Tory members of Parliament, who vent their spite in print, is so biased. Surely in your heart you know how difficult it is for any Prime Minister (whichever party he belongs to) to be always right in his judgement. In my opinion one of Edward Heath's greatest mistakes was to believe in his fellow men.

He was wrong'to think they wanted to stand on their own feet. He Was wrong to think they wanted the present unions to be brought into the framework of the law, and he was wrong to think that people would support him in holding down their wage claims until a higher standard of economic growth had been obtained.

Luckily, for the country he is not as cynical as I am, and therefore continues with the help , of his loyal cabinet to govern as wisely as he can.
