Beaverbrook puzzle

Sir: I keep reading reviews of a recent biography of the late Lord Beaverback that puzzle me. Clearly, this fellow was so benign, so distinguished, so public-spirited, so intelligent, such a good writer and so deeply honest that he can't possibly be the same man who raided the British press for power and profit, regardless of moral considerations, and was quite prepared to leave Britain unprepared for a war that showed every likelihood of destroying it so long as he could keep his vast income rolling in from the sale of advertising.

I should be very grateful if some kind person would tell me how I have got into such a mental tangle about these two Lord Beaverbrooks, Royston Millmore Fox Brow, Clayton, Bradford
