The Land and Labour of India. By W. Nassau Lees,

LL.D. (Williams and Norgate.)—This work is devoted to a consideration of the best means for encouraging agriculture in India, for bringing the waste lands into cultivation, for supplying the present want of capital and communications, and for generally developing the resources of the country. Major Lees states in his preface that a smaller work of his on the same subject, published four years ago, met with a favourable reception. It is to be hoped that the same good fortune may befall his present book, which contains muoh matter for reflection, and will open the eyes of many to circumstances of which they have no conception.
