Stories out of School-Time. By Ascott Hope. (I. Hogg.)—Mr. Hope's

stories have, he tells us, "almost all already appeared in print, bat for the most part will be new to the rising generation of our day." He is too modest in supposing that his tales are not better known. They are preserved, and read again and again, as we can bear witness. Indeed, they deserve to be so, for they combine good. sense and humour in quite unusual proportions. Still, there must be plenty of young readers who have yet to make acquaintance with them, and to such, if our recommendation be weded, we recommend them.
